A former member of the fascist police force was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The man served in Police Battalion 304, whose primary mission was to terrorize and systematically exterminate the Jewish population. During his posting in Warsaw, he participated in the siege, isolation, and starvation of the inhabitants of the Warsaw Jewish ghetto by arresting citizens who attempted to escape these conditions or to obtain essential supplies. During his deployments in the occupied territories of the Ukrainian SSR, he participated in several massacres of the Jewish population. Nearly 16,000 people fell victim to these acts, with the convicted man personally murdering at least 280 of them.
