Incitement to discrimination or racial hatred (Provocation à la discrimination ou à la haine raciale) – Court of Cassation, Criminal Chamber, upheld a decision from the Court of Appeal of Montpellier - The appellant, had been convicted of inciting discrimination or racial hatred against Jews - The Court of Cassation rejected his appeal, stating that the lower court correctly interpreted and justified the charges based on the content of the accused's statements - The appellant had written that with regard to the Papon trial, the media abusively exploitated the Shoah and suggested that the media was controlled by the Jews; and blamed the Jews for their lack of recognition of the French people who hid many of their members. The original conviction, which included a fine and the publication of the decision, was deemed legally sound.
