In this case, the charitable organization Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) legally challenged the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to take over and discontinue a private prosecution against A.. Mr. A. had delivered a speech during the "Al Quds Day" parade in London on June 18, 2017, in which he, among other things, held "Zionists" and the Conservative Party responsible for the Grenfell Tower fire and referred to them as "murderers" and "baby killers" . The DPP decided to discontinue the proceedings because she took the view that, in all the circumstances, A.'s statements did not cross the threshold of criminality . The CAA submitted that this decision was irrational.
